About this concert
Robin Tritschler and Graham Johnson present a treat for song-lovers with their captivating programme. Schumann’s Kernerlieder, like so many of the songs he created in 1840, convey the strength of his fervent love for Clara Wieck.
He completed his ‘song sequence’ soon after their marriage, a union contracted against her father’s wishes. For the second half, the duo performs settings of Shakespeare from a selection of his most celebrated plays.
